Careers and Student Opportunities
Teplitsky LLP hires 2 to 3 articling students each year. With respect to what we are looking for in our articling students, diversity in personality, education and experience are not only accepted but encouraged. The qualities that we require without exception, however, are a desire for excellence, a passion for advocacy, independence, self-confidence (but not arrogance) and a willingness to learn by becoming an integral member of a litigation team in which you will gain real-life, hands-on experience.
We provide our students with opportunities to be involved and participate in all aspects of litigation. While legal research and drafting memorandums are essential to building a foundation of one’s legal skills, we also encourage students to attend with lawyers at mediations, discoveries, hearings and trials. Students will also be given Small Claims matters to carry. We also encourage our students to participate in professional development programs.
Compensation and benefits for articling students are competitive with other law firms in downtown Toronto. We also offer gym memberships to our students. Students will also receive their tuition reimbursed for the Bar Admission Course.
Applications are processed and considered in July of each year in accordance with the timelines set each year for the Toronto Region by the Law Society of Upper Canada. Applicants should consult the Law Society website for specific deadlines.
All applications should include a cover letter, CV, post-secondary transcripts, law school transcript, a list of upper year courses, and two reference letters.
Address your cover letter to:
70 Bond Street
Toronto, ON M5B 1X3
Please submit your application electronically through the videsktop portal at https://recruitcdn.viglobalcloud.com/ .
It is our preference for all applications to be submitted via the link above.

Teplitsky LLP continues its steady growth. While we try to grow from within, from time to time we recruit associates from outside the firm to provide a particular skill set or fill a gap in seniority. We also maintain in strict confidence an active file of individuals who have expressed an interest in joining our firm.
The qualities sought in our associates are the same as those sought in articling students, with the addition of pertinent legal experience, a confirmed interest in a career as an advocate and the willingness to uphold the best traditions of our privileged profession and the bar in particular - we are barristers after all.
